Downtown Atlanta is home to the city’s top tourist attractions, including the Georgia Aquarium, the Center for Civil and Human Rights, and the College Football Hall of Fame. Not to mention Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons football team and Atlanta United soccer team, and State Farm Arena, home of the Atlanta Hawks basketball team.

Thanks to the efforts of institutions like Georgia State University and various local urban planning and preservation organizations, downtown Atlanta has been undergoing a revitalization over the past decade in hopes of repurposing unused and historic structures. Many buildings have been transformed into student housing, restaurants, local coffee shops, hotels, apartments, and creative office spaces. Revitalization also continues in Underground Atlanta and South Downtown, with restoration work along historic Hotel Row and the former Norfolk Southern Railroad building set to bring even more restaurants and retail to the area soon.

Whether you’re here for one of the many annual conferences or concerts, or you’re a local looking to explore your backyard, here’s a list of downtown Atlanta’s must-visit restaurants and bars to know about.
