NHTSA initiates recall investigation for 94,000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has initiated a recall investigation for nearly 100,000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles.

According to NHTSA, these are the Jeep Wrangler 4xe (2022-2024), the Wrangler PHEV (2021) and some Jeep Wranglers (2021-2014).

The investigation follows reports of power losses that were the subject of a previous recall by Stellantis in 2022. An estimated 94,275 vehicles are affected.

According to NHTSA, the Office of Defects Investigation received 68 reports from Jeep owners.

“The results indicate that the current complaint rate is higher for out-of-scope vehicles than for vehicles later included in the recall. ODI is conducting this recall request (RQ) to determine the severity of the alleged defect for vehicles not included in the 22V-865 recall. ODI will also evaluate the scope and effectiveness of the recall’s corrective actions,” NHTSA said.
