Firefighter injured after house fire in La Plata, cause still under investigation – Southern Maryland News Net

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, Charles County firefighters responded to the 6900 block of Ellenwood Court in La Plata for a report of an attached garage fire.

When the emergency services arrived on the scene, they found a two-story residential building with the fire breaking out in the adjacent garage.

Firefighters from Prince George’s County, Charles and St. Mary’s arrived at the scene or at stations in Charles to help replenish the fire department.

While on scene, a firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The staff was on site for almost four hours.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office began investigating the cause of the fire.
