INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating after one person was killed and several others injured in a multi-vehicle crash in southwest Indy early Saturday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to multiple reports of an injury crash in the 1200 block of South Reisner Street just after 12:30 a.m. Police say at least one person was killed in the crash.

Investigators believe a man suspected of drunk driving was traveling at a high rate of speed, reaching speeds of approximately 90 miles per hour. The driver crashed into a second vehicle, injuring a pregnant woman who was driving and two children in her car.

Investigators say a male passenger in the suspect vehicle was ejected from the car and found in a nearby ditch. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Investigators do not believe he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

According to police, the driver was arrested after an altercation with officers at the scene of the accident.

According to police, in addition to the two vehicles involved in the accident, six other vehicles were hit along Reisner Street.
