“Sensitive police incident” leads to closure of I-15 southbound at Lake Mead

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Due to police activity, the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Lake Mead Boulevard were closed Friday morning.

The closure was reported at 8:16 a.m. by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, which reported that all lanes were blocked.

A spokesman for the Nevada State Police – Highway Patrol could not initially provide further details, but described the situation as “a sensitive police incident.”

Interstate 15 will be closed in this area and “there is no estimated time when it will reopen,” the spokesman said.

Motorists and citizens were asked to avoid the area.
