Man faces jail sentence for sexually assaulting woman in Brighton Marina – News from Brighton and Hove

A man is to be sentenced after admitting sexually assaulting a woman at Brighton Marina.

Sussex Police said today (Thursday 4 July): “A man has pleaded guilty to sexual assault after he approached and grabbed a woman at Brighton Marina.

“Obaidullah Walizada, 33, of no fixed abode, was in the underpass of the Brighton Marina car park at around 1.15pm on Saturday 22 June when he spotted a woman on a bicycle.

“When she stopped her bike and got off, Walizada approached her, grabbed her violently from behind and then walked away.

“Shortly afterwards, Walizada was arrested nearby by officers on suspicion of sexual assault and taken into custody.

“He was charged with the offence on Sunday 23 June and pleaded guilty at Brighton Magistrates’ Court the following day.

“Walizada was remanded in custody to await sentencing on Monday, July 15.

“Investigations in this investigation are ongoing and we urge anyone with information to come forward.
