VSP: One dead after accident in Russell County | WJHL

RUSSELL COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) – One person is dead following a car crash on Swords Creek Road in Russell County on June 30.

The Virginia State Police (VSP) reports that a 2007 Chevrolet Express was traveling north on Swords Creek Road near Franks Hollow Road shortly before 4 p.m.


The vehicle then veered off the left side of the road and hit a tree and a guardrail, VSP reported.

The driver of the vehicle, identified by police as Curtis R. Nichols, 56, of Swords Creek, died of his injuries at a local hospital. According to VSP, he was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
