‘Disturbing’: Man arrested after indecent exposure in Greensboro neighborhood

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Be aware of your surroundings. This message comes from Greensboro Police after receiving two 911 calls two days in a row about a man exposing himself in the same neighborhood.

Greensboro police arrested 28-year-old Rodney Dayshaun Roberts-Knight on two counts of disorderly conduct and two counts of indecent exposure.

People who live in the Overton Drive neighborhood told FOX8 off-camera that this was disturbing. They’ve seen Roberts-Knight in the area several times, and one woman tells FOX8 she thinks she’s seen him here since he was arrested and released a few days ago.

It’s a quiet area with neighbors who talk to each other and they’ve noticed the same man several times.

“I filed an incident report on April 1st about a man who followed me home from the Greenway in Greensboro and I just saw him again, so I want it recorded that he stopped by my house again a caller told 911 operators.

You can hear the fear in the phone call.

“He unsettles me. I don’t know and I can’t even be in my garden. I mean, it’s ridiculous. … If something happens to me, I want it recorded that I reported it,” the caller said.

This call was from May 1st when the caller said a man said inappropriate things to her.

“He threatened to do it – it was sexual,” the caller said.

The day before, on April 30, another caller reported a man exposing himself in the same neighborhood.

“There was a man. I was parking my vehicle when I got home. A man walked up behind me, stepped in front of my car, pulled out his dick and started hitting my car with it. … I backed up, pushed honked and he ran away,” another caller told 911 dispatch.

Greensboro police linked Rodney Roberts-Knight to both cases and are asking anyone who experienced or witnessed a similar situation to report it to law enforcement.

There have been 15 sexual offenses reported so far this year, up from 24 at this time last year.

Greensboro Police want you to be aware of your surroundings, avoid jogging or walking alone at night, and trust your instincts. If something is wrong or you feel uncomfortable, quickly walk away, scream, or whatever makes you feel safe.

Greensboro Police say if something like this happens to you, get to a safe place and call 911 to report it. Be sure to get a good description of the perpetrator. That’s exactly what people did in the Overton Drive neighborhood, leading to an arrest.
