Suburban police departments ready to help during DNC – Chicago Tribune

Hello, Chicago.

Police departments in the northern suburbs are preparing for the Democratic National Convention and are ready to assist Chicago police if needed. It will be held August 19-22.

An estimated 50,000 delegates, staff and officials are expected to attend the convention at the United Center and McCormick Place.

Ringed Plover chick – grandchild of Monty and Rose – hatches on Montrose Beach

On Sunday morning, the first of four eggs hatched for Searocket the ringed plover, which was raised in captivity and released into the wild last summer on Montrose Beach, according to a press release from the Chicago Park District. Read more here.

Popular Northbrook restaurant closes as town officials consider new 1% food and beverage tax
