A former headteacher from North Wales who sexually abused four children he was supposed to protect has been sentenced to 17 years in prison.

Neil Foden, 66, the former head of Ysgol Fairs in Bangor, was convicted of a number of offences:

  • 12 cases of sexual acts with a child
  • Two cases of sexual acts with a child in a position of trust
  • One count of causing or inciting sexual acts by children
  • One count of attempted organization of the commission of a sexual offense against children
  • A case of sexual communication with a child
  • A case of possession of indecent photographs of a child
  • A case of sexual abuse of a child

The judge described Foden as an “arrogant, controlling person who is used to getting his way” after the 66-year-old was found guilty earlier this year.

The man whose job it was to protect the girls he abused is now beginning a long prison sentence.

His crimes were committed over a four-year period between 2019 and 2023.

After Foden was found guilty, Assistant Chief Constable Gareth Evans of North Wales Police said:

“We welcome the jury’s verdict in a difficult case and thank them for their diligent work.

“My thoughts today are with the victims and their families who have shown dignity and bravery throughout this process and we will continue to support them as they move forward.”
