Interlaken teacher charged and resigned after school incident

INTERLAKEN, NY (WETM) — A South Seneca Elementary School teacher has resigned and now faces charges after allegedly being involved in a physical altercation with a student.

According to Interlaken Police, officers received a report on May 31 alleging that Jessika M. Pfeil unintentionally physically assaulted a student at South Seneca Elementary School as he was leaving school. Police investigated the report through interviews, voluntary statements from those involved and review of surveillance video.

Following the investigation, Pfeil was charged with second-degree harassment and received a summons to appear in city court on July 12.

According to the superintendent of the South Seneca Central School District, Pfeil resigned from her teaching position in the district on June 12. The resignation was effective at the end of the school year.
