Leadership in Mt. Washington does not renew police chief’s contract

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – There has been a change in police leadership in Mt. Washington.

Mount Washington Mayor Stuart Owen said the police chief’s last day as a member of the department would be June 30. Police Chief Marcus Laytham learned of the news on Tuesday.

Owen said it was decided not to renew his contract and that the reason for his dismissal was “a change in leadership within the department.”

The mayor said Lt. Col. Dan Kelty will be acting police chief for the foreseeable future.
