Community comes together to remember boy killed by tree

Friends and family gathered to remember a teenager who was killed by a falling tree.

Kamil Hubert-Ziolko, 16, was clearing bushes on a property in Carlton-in-Lindrick, Nottinghamshire, when the incident occurred on June 15.

On Saturday, hundreds of balloons were released in memory of Kamil at a fundraiser for his funeral.

Police had previously arrested two men, aged 28 and 31, on suspicion of manslaughter and a 28-year-old woman on suspicion of aiding and abetting a crime. All three have since been released on bail.

The event for Kamil took place at the Carlton-in-Lindrick Social Club.

Letters were sent to the teenager and friends wore T-shirts with tributes printed on them.

The honors are “Forever 16”.

A friend wrote in her tribute: “You had one of the kindest hearts. We are all deeply heartbroken.”

Another said the teenager “always had a smile” on his face.

Chloe Peake, 24, said she took part in the fundraiser out of respect for Kamil’s loved ones.

She said: “Kamil was a well-known and popular member of the community.

“His life will be celebrated and remembered for many years to come.”

Outwood Academy Portland in Worksop, where Kamil went to school, previously said it would work with students to find ways to mark his life.

Meanwhile, a campaign on the Go Fund Me page has raised over £9,000 for the teenager’s funeral costs.

Nottinghamshire Police said they were investigating with the assistance of the Health and Safety Executive.

Officers were called to the incident at Rotherham Baulk at 11:21am (BST) on 15 June.

Rescue workers tried to save Kamil’s life, but a short time later he was pronounced dead.

On Wednesday, police said all three people arrested in connection with the incident had been released on bail “under strict conditions” while investigations continued.
