One dead and seven injured in mass shooting in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – At least one person is dead and seven others were injured in a shooting outside a Louisville lounge early Saturday morning.

Louisville Metro Police said officers were called to a nightclub around 12:45 a.m. for a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found a man outside the store with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Joseph D. Bowers, 40, of Indianapolis was identified as the victim by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

A second victim was also found at the scene with gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital with suspected critical and life-threatening injuries.

LMPD also confirmed that six other adults were taken to other area hospitals with injuries from the shooting. Police said their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have no motive for the shooting and there are currently no suspects.
