High temperatures are expected this weekend and next week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Get ready for a HOT end to the work week! More sunshine today will also lead to a rise in temperatures… and that’s just the beginning. The First Alert forecast for highs is now 35 to 40 degrees through the weekend. This hot spell of weather will continue into early next week.

On Friday the sun will shine a little more than in the last few days. This means that temperatures will rise to over 35 degrees. The easterly wind will continue in the region.

Could get a shower or two this afternoon… yes, but precipitation will be very limited. Humidity will be around, but not excessive today, but it will still be hot. Clear tonight with lows around 21 degrees and light winds.

This weekend, the big issue is the heat. On both Saturday and Sunday, afternoon temperatures will be between 35 and 40 degrees. Winds will be around 5 mph. Humidity will increase a bit, making it feel like just over 38 degrees. The only relief from the heat will be rain, but that chance will be limited by nature. Lows this weekend will be around 21 degrees.

The weather will remain similar throughout the next week, with heat and humidity being the main themes.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, afternoon temperatures will rise to 35 to 40 degrees. The humidity factor will be high, making it feel warmer and a bit muggy outside.

There is a chance of scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms each day early next week, increasing towards the middle of the week. Lows will remain at 21 degrees Celsius.

I know it’s only a week away and a lot can change between now and then, but next Thursday we’ll see the highest rainfall across the region. Highs will drop a little, to just under 30 degrees, with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

The National Hurricane Center is closely monitoring the tropics! There are two areas where possible developments could occur over the next 7 days.

One area is located in the Bay of Campeche in the southwestern part of the Gulf of Mexico and has a medium chance of development in the next week.

Meanwhile, another system is moving near the East Coast of the United States and also has a medium chance of developing over the next week. This system is likely to bring rain and some wind to the East Coast of the United States.
