2 men arrested after weekend shooting in South Buffalo

An investigation led to a third arrest, after a woman questioned by police was found in possession of approximately 6 grams of suspected crack cocaine.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two Buffalo men have been arrested in connection with a weekend shooting in the city.

Buffalo police said Thursday that Kwanza Battle, II, 25, and Kwanza Battle, 49, were charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of inadvertent endangerment.

The charges stem from a shooting that occurred around 9:15 p.m. Saturday at South Park and West Woodside avenues. That’s where Southern District officers responded to a shooting call. They found a scene, but no victims.

It was later determined that the person who was shot, a 31-year-old Buffalo man, had arrived in a private vehicle at Mercy Hospital. He was then taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center.

Battle and Battle II were arrested Wednesday, police said.

An investigation led to a third arrest, after a woman questioned by police was found in possession of approximately 6 grams of suspected crack cocaine. Amani Buster, 22, of Buffalo, now faces two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
