Alleged domestic violence incident ends fatally in Hanceville

HANCEVILLE, Alabama. – A Hanceville man died as a result of an alleged domestic incident late Tuesday evening, June 18.

The death of Joseph Keith Chandler Jernigan, 37, was confirmed by Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick following the incident at Jernigan’s residence.

“He had a gunshot wound to the abdomen,” Kilpatrick said. “He was taken to a local hospital where he died from injuries sustained in the shooting.”

According to officers on the scene, an unnamed woman allegedly admitted to shooting Jernigan after the incident.

Hanceville police are investigating. No charges have been filed against the unnamed woman.
