Returning Atlanta Falcons star ranks in top 25 on countdown

Pro Football Network ranked the top 25 players under 25. Only one Atlanta Falcons player made the list, with Bijan Robinson coming in 18th in the rankings. It’s a deserving spot that respects Bijan’s talent and potential, while understanding the lack of production in his rookie season.

Robinson’s numbers aren’t bad by any means, but they haven’t lived up to high expectations. Expectations that continue to grow this offseason, with Robinson being compared to Christian McCaffrey.

Although 18th place may seem low, all the players ranked ahead of Bijan have proven themselves much more. Whether it’s helping fuel a playoff run or putting up gaudy numbers, every player ranked ahead of Robinson is more deserving.

However, Atlanta fans should expect that to change with Robinson well within the top ten of such a list by the end of the year. With the additions at quarterback and an offensive coordinator ready to nurture his stars, the numbers should take a big step forward.

If we think the Falcons are going to use Bijan in a McCaffrey role, we should expect the back to finish with 1,500-2,000 total yards. He has the ability as a receiver to put up those numbers and help keep the defense off balance.

Atlanta will pass with much more regularity with Kirk Cousins now at center. However, Robinson will be there and give Atlanta its best chance to run a balanced attack.

The concern for Robinson shouldn’t be his production or the chances he’ll have in this offense. It is the improvement in ball security that should concern fans. If you look at Robinson’s rookie season, that’s the biggest concern moving forward. The second-year guard needs to do a much better job taking care of the ball.
