FBI works to track down Houston bank robber nicknamed ‘Be Right Back Bandit’

The FBI Houston Violence Task Force is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a bank in northwest Houston earlier this month. Authorities are calling the suspect the “Be Right Back Bandit.”

The theft occurred on June 7 around 2:30 p.m. at the Frost Bank located at 13191 Northwest Freeway in Houston.

Wearing a beige hooded sweatshirt, black basketball shorts and a black medical mask, the suspect approached a teller and asked if he could open an account. When the cashier asked for identification, the suspect uttered a phrase for which he would become infamous: “I’ll be right back.”

He walked towards the bank door as if he was leaving and was confronted by a security guard. Then he abruptly turned around and pulled out a gun. He ran towards the bank teller, demanding money.

After collecting an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber took off on foot, heading south on Hollister Road. He has not been seen since.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of this thief.
