Yellow weather warning: Dangerous heat until Thursday; local thunderstorms on Tuesday

ROCHESTER, NY — There’s a yellow alert for another hot and humid day of heat advisories as temperatures climb back into the 30s with rising humidity. With the heat index, afternoon temperatures will feel like they’re at or above 38 degrees.

The hot weather will continue until Wednesday and Thursday, before it gets a little cooler on Friday and thus also over the weekend.

The yellow warning for local thunderstorms is also in effect for Tuesday. We are expecting a heavy thunderstorm west of Rochester in the morning, which could bring rain and thunderstorms near Rochester or west of it in the morning.

Then expect hazy, hot and humid weather with another chance of thunderstorms late afternoon into Tuesday evening. While we are not in a good position for widespread severe storms, there is a chance of a stronger storm a few days later on Tuesday with heavy rain and gusty winds, as some experienced yesterday afternoon.

So not only are we dealing with intense heat, but we also need to keep an eye on the skies for thunderstorms. Stay tuned to News10NBC for the latest temperature information and where thunderstorms are developing throughout the day.
