Maryland man arrested in connection with break-ins at Dunn Loring

On May 24, Fairfax County police arrested a 58-year-old Maryland man who authorities say is connected to four separate burglaries in the Dunn Loring area.

At 10:25 a.m., police sent officers to the 7900 block of Tire Swing Road in Dunn Loring for a burglary of an occupied residence. While the victims were inside the home, they heard and saw the suspect break the basement window, police said.

The victim confronted the suspect, who fled before police arrived.

Officers found and arrested suspect William Westray a short distance away as he attempted to board the Metro. Police took Westray to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where authorities charged him with burglary, two counts of burglary with intent to commit a misdemeanor, and three counts of criminal damage to property and served him with two additional warrants from another jurisdiction.

Authorities initially held Westray without bail, but he was later released on secured bail.

Investigators preliminarily believe Westray is also connected to three other break-ins in Dunn Loring. These occurred on May 20 in the 8200 block of Bucknell Drive, on May 22 in the 2900 block of Beau Lane and on May 23 in the 2700 block of Elsmore Street.
