Reporters clap back after press conference incident

According to a Fox News report, journalists have slammed President Joe Biden after he snapped at a reporter who asked him a question about the war in Gaza:

“The president signed a 10-year contract with Ukraine on Thursday to supply military equipment for the ongoing war with Russia. At the press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Biden announced that they would answer two questions from American reporters and two from Ukrainian reporters.

“When Bloomberg’s Josh Wingrove was allowed to ask his question, he steered the topic to the US efforts in the Israel-Gaza war, which angered Biden.

“I wish you would play by the rules a little bit. I’m here to talk about the critical situation in Ukraine. You’re asking about a different topic. I’ll be happy to answer that in detail later, but the bottom line is that we reached an agreement (on Gaza),” Biden replied.

“Before Wingrove, Biden called an Associated Press reporter who asked him not only about the expansion of the parameters for U.S. arms sales to Russia, but also about Biden’s son, Hunter.

“The WHCA subsequently issued a statement defending the independence of the free press and encouraging them to ask questions.

“The White House Correspondents’ Association believes it is in the public interest to make clear that there are no preconditions regarding the topics of questions at a presidential press conference, whether domestic or foreign,” the statement said. “While the White House determines the number of reporters the President will recognize, it is up to professional journalists to decide what questions will be asked.”

“It went on to say, ‘Every politician may want reporters to ask only one question or to be questioned only on a topic of greatest interest to the President or another politician, but a free press functions independently. The WHCA would welcome more opportunities to ask the President a series of questions during a press conference.'”
