California man killed in accident on Thursday | News

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a California man was killed in an accident in Pittsburg County on Thursday.

Police said 74-year-old Charles Howe Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on U.S. 69, about two miles south of McAlester.

According to OHP, the accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when Howe Jr. failed to yield the right of way while turning onto the highway.

The report states that he turned onto the northbound lane and was struck by another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was treated and released from the hospital.
