“Suspended RCCG Pastor Iluyomade is under pressure to start his own church”

Former Regional Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in the Town of David, Region 20, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, and his wife Dr. Siju Iluyomade have reportedly resigned from their positions as pastors of the church and are now under pressure to strike out on their own.

The resignation followed his refusal to serve his three-month suspension and be transferred to another parish in Ebute Meta.

Naija News recalls that Pastor Iluyomade was transferred from RCCG Region 20 following controversy following his wife’s birthday celebrations when the church mourned the death of former CEO of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe.

A new pastor, Pastor Charles Kpandei, resumed office as the new senior pastor of the region on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

A source close to the company said in an interview with Vanguard that Iluyomade had resigned, but the board of directors had not accepted his resignation letter.

The source also said that the Apapa family, the branch of the RCCG that works with the government and other public sector institutions, is trying to ensure that Pastor Iluyomade establishes his office.

The source said: “Because he is serving a suspension, his resignation was not accepted by the Board of Directors. The Council will not meet until August, when the suspension ends. The church has a resignation process for pastors of his caliber.

The Apapa Family group is believed to be an arm of the RCCG that works with governments and other public sector institutions to undertake charitable projects in the areas of healthcare, education, infrastructure, citizen welfare and capacity building.

“Whether it is self-interest or mere desire that led Pastor Ituah Ighodalo to leave the RCCG and start their own ministries, only God knows.”
