Preview of a First Alert Weather Day

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – There’s a slight chance of scattered showers early Wednesday morning, followed by mostly sunny skies and highs rising back into the mid-80s. It will be partly to mostly cloudy, with a slight chance of overnight showers. Lows are expected to be in the mid-60s.

First Alert Chief Meteorologist Darrin Rockcole joins the News 10+ Digital Desk to provide a preview of what to expect for the rest of Wednesday and a look ahead to Thursday.

Thursday is a First Alert Weather Day

Thursday will be mostly partly cloudy, if not mostly sunny. Thursday will also be a warm and humid day with highs in the 30s. Wind gusts of around 30 mph are expected. A cold front will move across the area late Thursday afternoon or early evening. With the front, there is a chance that thunderstorms will quickly form and move southeast across Central Michigan. There is a chance that some of these rapidly developing thunderstorms will become severe, producing damaging winds, hail and heavy rains. The Storm Prediction Center has Central Michigan in a Low risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather on Thursday. Stay tuned for updates as the forecast develops over the next 24 hours.
