Norwalk police officer arrested after off-duty ‘disturbance’ – NBC Connecticut

A Norwalk police officer was arrested Friday after an off-duty disturbance, according to Police Chief James Walsh.

Walsh said he received a complaint from a citizen on Thursday about an incident involving Officer Hector Delgado.

The Norwalk Police Detective Bureau initiated a criminal investigation and issued a warrant for Delgado’s arrest, charging him with first-degree menacing, second-degree disturbing the peace, and tailgating with a motor vehicle.

According to Police Chief Walsh, Delgado was arrested Friday and held on $50,000 bail.

Delgado was placed on leave and his police powers were suspended.

“As your Chief of Police, I want to assure you that we are treating this matter with the utmost seriousness and transparency,” Walsh said in a press release. “This officer’s actions do not reflect the values ​​and principles our department stands for. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, accountability and professionalism in all aspects of our service to the community. Any behavior that deviates from these standards will not be tolerated. I can assure you that I am committed to ethical conduct and am committed to fully investigating any allegations to the contrary.”
