Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen attacked in Copenhagen – DW – 07.06.2024

According to her office, a man attacked Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in a square in Copenhagen on Friday.

“Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was beaten by a man on Friday evening at Kultorvet in Copenhagen. The man was subsequently arrested,” the Prime Minister’s office said in a statement to the AFP news agency.

Her office added that she was “shocked by the incident.”

Copenhagen police confirmed an incident involving the prime minister but did not provide further details.

“We have arrested an individual in this case, which we are currently investigating. We have no further comments or remarks on the case at this time,” police said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

There was no immediate information on how the attack occurred or whether Frederiksen was injured in any way.
