/PRNewswire/ — Levy Konigsberg has filed a lawsuit on behalf of twelve survivors of sexual abuse against St. Gabriel’s Hall, a youth prison in

Audubon, Pennsylvania

alleging that St. Gabriel’s and its owners and operators failed to protect children from rampant sexual abuse by their adult employees. The suit, filed on behalf of 12 men who were abused there as children, is the latest in a series of lawsuits alleging abuse at juvenile detention centers led by Levy Konigsberg.

Although the sexual abuse of underage residents at St. Gabriel’s Hall is widespread and well-known, little has been done to protect these children or punish their abusers. This pattern of negligence on the part of St. Gabriel’s Hall is what prompted this lawsuit. The shocking negligence that allowed the sexual abuse of far too many minors at the facility is detailed in the complaint filed this week.

In announcing today’s lawsuit, John Guinan, partner at Levy Konigsberg, said:

“Our clients were sent to St. Gabriel with the promise of a structured environment focused on rehabilitation. They should have been safe there, but instead they were trapped in a corrosive environment where they were used and abused by the very staff who were supposed to promote their well-being. Many of them were manipulated, degraded, threatened, and had no protection whatsoever. This neglect of oversight forces both the facility and the predatory abusers to face accountability. Although St. Gabriel closed in 2020, the countless stories of abuse cannot remain under wraps; the filing of these lawsuits by these brave survivors and the exposure of the rampant abuse of children at this facility is just the first step in reversing the power dynamics that enabled this abuse.

It is our honor to seek justice on behalf of these survivors, but most
