Teenager hospitalized after accident involving e-bike and delivery truck on El Camino Real near Taylor Boulevard

MILLBRAE, CA (June 6, 2024) – A 13-year-old boy was injured in an e-bike accident on El Camino Real on Tuesday afternoon.

According to San Mateo Police, the incident occurred on June 4 around 3 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, the northbound e-bike struck the rear of a box truck near Taylor Boulevard.

Emergency workers took the teenager to a local hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the van remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with investigators.

Emergency services temporarily cordoned off the area to allow for the investigation. The road was reportedly reopened several hours later.

San Mateo Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Criminal Investigation at (650) 649-8620.
