3 people arrested in Van Buren County after pharmacy robbery

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Michigan – The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call to a business on Crandall Parkway around 3:30 a.m. this morning.

They were notified by the store owner, who had seen several people in the building on the video surveillance camera and immediately called the emergency services to report it.

When officers arrived, they observed several people loading bags from the store into a waiting vehicle. However, when they saw officers, they fled back into the store.

They say three of the offenders found a door to the outside that was uncovered and fled into the woods. One of the offenders was later arrested by officers as he ran from the woods and tried to get into their getaway car. One man was found inside the store and arrested without incident.

A third man was later spotted on I94 near County Road 681, where he disappeared into the woods north of the highway upon seeing an officer dispatched to check the area. The suspect was then found northbound on County Road 681, where officers arrested him. Using video footage from the company video system, he was positively identified as one of the suspects in this incident.

A fourth suspect is still at large.

As it turned out, the vehicle used in this crime had been reported stolen in Battle Creek.

All three individuals were taken into custody at the Van Buren County Jail and charged with burglary, violent entry, theft in a building, possession of burglary tools, and resisting and obstructing police.

All suspects arrested were male, between the ages of 18 and 23, from the Battle Creek area.

If anyone has information or tips regarding this incident, they are asked to contact the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office at (269) 657-3101.
