OHP: McAlester man dies after being thrown from tractor in accident | News

PITTSBURG COUNTY, Oklahoma – A McAlester man has died after being thrown from a tractor-trailer in a collision on State Highway 31, authorities say.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), a 65-year-old McAlester man was driving east on the shoulder of State Highway 31 when another vehicle struck him from behind Wednesday morning.

According to police, the tractor veered left off the road and landed in a ditch, throwing the driver about 27 meters onto the road.

According to OHP, the driver was hospitalized with critical head injuries and pronounced dead early Thursday.

The other driver was treated and released, according to OHP. Neither the victim nor the other driver have been identified by authorities.

According to OHP, inattention was the cause of the collision.
