Powerful US congressman launches F1 investigation into Andretti blockade

A highly influential member of the United States House of Representatives has launched an investigation into Formula 1 and Liberty Media for blocking Andretti’s entry into the championship.

Representative Jim Jordan is chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, making him one of the most powerful members of the House and Senate.

In his role, he has requested documents related to discussions over Formula One’s decision to temporarily block Andretti, a week after he was one of 12 bipartisan House members who met with the 1978 world champion in Washington, DC met on Capitol Hill.

MP Jordan has addressed his letter to Liberty Media boss Greg Maffei and Formula 1 CEO and President Stefano Domenicali, with a response deadline of May 21st.

Liberty will also report its first quarter financial results on Wednesday, May 8th.

McLaren assesses pecking order position after win in Miami

McLaren team boss Andrea Stella has denied that his team now has the pace needed to consistently challenge Red Bull this season.
