Man pleads guilty to sexually harassing hotel employees

NORFOLK, Virginia – Donte Davis pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually assaulting a downtown Norfolk hotel room attendant in 2023.

Davis, 30, was arrested by Norfolk police and charged with rape after he was found in connection with a sexual assault at the Waterside Marriott in May last year.

On Thursday, the first day of Davis’s requested jury trial, he accepted an agreement to plead guilty to rape. According to the prosecutor, the judge will determine Davis’ sentence, but it will not exceed 31 years in prison.

The presiding judge accepted this settlement and set the verdict for August 2.

“I feel deeply for the survivor of Mr. Davis’ crimes,” said Norfolk District Attorney Ramin Fatehi. “She was at work, doing her job and caring for others, and Mr. Davis attacked her when she should have felt safe. I hope Mr. Davis’s guilty plea and eventual conviction will provide her with some closure. Mr. Davis’s conviction will protect the community from further violence.”
