Warm midweek with cooler temperatures for Mother’s Day weekend

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A front west of the Carolinas is likely to move through Friday. Ahead of this front: The chance of rain and storms is 10% Tuesday evening, 20% Wednesday, 40% Thursday and 50% Friday. A few gusty showers or storms are possible as this system passes. Behind the Front: Rain chances are expected to drop to around 10% or less for most of Mother’s Day weekend. We would first like to alert you to the possibility of some stronger or even more severe thunderstorms late Thursday into Friday.

Expect mild 80s Tuesday afternoon and warmer low 90s Wednesday and Thursday. When the front finally passes, daily highs are expected to return to 70 to around 80 locally over Mother’s Day weekend. A drop in humidity will add some nice dimension to this weekend forecast as well, while also causing temperatures to drop into the crisp 50s for a few nights and mornings.
