Man arrested after sexual abuse charges

PRICEVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The Priceville Police Department (PPD) says a man has been arrested following a sexual assault and attempted rape charge in 2023.

PPD said 36-year-old Rhotee Thompson of Muscle Shoals was arrested Sunday on warrants for attempted first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse and enticement of a child for immoral purposes and extradited from Colbert County to Morgan County.

The department said these warrants stem from an investigation that began in 2021. Authorities said Deputy Chief Jason Wilbanks began investigating a case involving the enticement of a child who was under 12 years old at the time.

PPD said during the investigation, Thompson was identified as a suspect.

According to court documents, Thompson was indicted on those charges in September 2023. Priceville police said warrants were issued for his arrest following those charges.

Jail records show Thompson is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
