Second person arrested in connection with armed robbery in Randolph, MA – NBC Boston

Police have arrested a second person this week in connection with an armed robbery in Randolph, Massachusetts.

Randolph police said they arrested and charged 20-year-old Anthony Beato of Malden, MA, on Friday.

Manuel Ofarami said he saw a car speeding down his street before breaking down on his lawn. The suspects may not have known what the residents were doing – Johnson Drive ends at Ofarami’s house.

Ofarami, who was working from home when he saw it all unfold, was understandably shocked.

“I mean, I was right in my house and I tried to look out the back window, I saw the car and it was right there, I wasn’t sure who they were. “They’re kind of young,” he said.

While Ofarami is relieved at the moment, things were tense before. According to police, the car was involved in an armed robbery just minutes before it ended up in his backyard.

“I was scared if they tried to rob me or rob the house, so I took out my phone and called the police. Luckily, as I tried to get to the front, I saw police vehicles everywhere,” he said.

There was a heavy police presence, including officers armed with long guns and K-9 units, in the Johnson Drive area where the armed vehicle robbery was reported around 1:20 p.m

According to police, no one was injured in the incident. Police said they were able to take the suspect, 18-year-old Shaun Culbreath-Isles of Malden, into custody after a foot chase. He is said to have taken jewelry and a cell phone from the robbed person.

“It’s kind of scary, you know? “I don’t know what they plan to do if they had a gun either, I mean, I have my child in the house with me, I don’t know what to do if they come to the house,” Ofarami said.

Beato is charged with armed robbery, malicious destruction of property and resisting arrest, while Culbreath-Isles is charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of a burglary tool and theft of property.

Detectives were on scene Monday afternoon collecting evidence and searching for fingerprints.

“It’s always quiet, I don’t know, it’s strange to me,” Ofarami said. “This is the first time I’ve seen something like this.”

An investigation is underway.
