Fort Collins Police Officer responded to an accident involved in a collision

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A Fort Collins police officer responding to an accident was involved in a collision Thursday afternoon.

According to Fort Collins Police Services, the accident occurred at the intersection of Horsetooth Road and Timberline Road around 3 p.m.

According to the department, a Fort Collins police officer was heading westbound in the department’s SUV for another accident when he was involved in a collision with a southbound Hyundai Accent. According to Fort Collins police, the officer responded with his lights and sirens activated.

The passenger of the Hyundai suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital, while the driver of the Hyundai was uninjured.

The Fort Collins Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling (CRASH) team responded to investigate the crash. According to the department, the roadway was closed for approximately 4.5 hours while investigators examined the scene.
