FARGO – Fargo Police are on their way to Washington, DC to honor Officer Jake Wallin.

60 officers and their families left Hector Airport on Sunday morning.

They were greeted by members of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and West Fargo Police Department.

This week marks National Police Week in the nation’s capital, with officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty last year being honored at a series of ceremonies.

“It was a very busy July last year, trying to find some closure and start some of the healing process. It will be very important for the members who are out there, representing the community, representing the department “It’s been an emotional and stressful week, but it’s very important that we go out there and represent the community and the department as a whole” said Lt. Mike Bernier.

The Badges of Unity Fund, a fundraiser, raised enough money to cover the total cost of the trip for Fargo Police.
