Former NFL star wanted by police in Canada for fraud; GPS monitor cut off – Queen City News

ONTARIO, Canada (WGHP) – A former NFL defensive lineman is wanted by police in Canada after he allegedly failed to show up for a court date and his GPS monitor went offline. according to the Durham Regional Police Service.

34-year-old Darryl Frank Skrine is wanted by police for failure to appear and failure to comply with a release order.

Skrine is better known as Buster Skrine, as he was also known back then his NFL career.

According to police, Skrine was first arrested at Pearson International Airport in Canada in August 2023 on “numerous fraud allegations.”

On April 9, Skrine was transferred from a correctional facility in Ontario to a correctional facility in Saskatchewan, where he faced additional fraud charges.

Skrine was released on bail from the Saskatchewan facility on April 12 on the condition that he comply with a GPS monitoring program and return to court in Durham Region on Monday.

Police say Skrine failed to show up for his court date on Monday and that his GPS monitor has since gone offline.

Skrine was selected by the Cleveland Browns in Round 5 of the 2011 NFL Draft and had a 10-year NFL career.

After spending four seasons with the Browns, Skrine signed a four-year, $25 million contract with the New York Jets in 2015. according to Spotrac. This deal included a $5 million signing bonus and $13 million in guarantees.

After completing that four-year deal with the Jets, Skrine signed a three-year, $16.5 million contract with the Chicago Bears in 2019. This contract included a $5.5 million signing bonus and $8.5 million in guarantees.

Skrine was released by the Bears in 2021 and spent the 2021 season with the San Franciso 49ers and Tennessee Titans before retiring in 2022.
