An attempted kidnapping has just occurred in western New York State

There have been so many scary situations in Western New York lately, and another one just happened Monday night.

Thanks to public forums on Facebook and X, Community members were able to advance the The neighborhood is watching team by sharing observations and experiences that can alert others to what is happening in their area.

However, this means that we have heard many stories about things we never imagined could happen in our neighborhood, including robberies and attempted kidnappings.

On Monday night, another story was shared on the Lancaster/Depew Neighbors Helping Neighbors Facebook group, and it gained traction online.

Amanda, a mother from the Lancaster/Depew area, wrote on Facebook: “Be careful with your children. An African American man in a blue car tried to kidnap my daughter today. Thank God he didn’t succeed.”

Amanda’s daughter was able to return home after the frightening incident outside the Depew-Lancaster Boys & Girls Club, located at 60 Preston St, Depew, NY.

It’s good to be aware of this, but it’s worrying that so many of these stories have happened recently.

Remember the situation that happened in early March? A young woman was nearly kidnapped in her own garage after returning from a night out in Buffalo. Although the assailant managed to throw the woman into the back of his car, she was able to fight off the car from the sidewalk and ran to a neighbor’s house for help.

Places you know well, including your own driveway, require vigilance. Be careful and be sure to monitor your surroundings.
