How’s the summer going for everyone? It’s been a quiet summer here at Die By The Blade. There’s always something to talk about, that’s for sure, but things are relatively quiet on the Eastern Front as far as the Buffalo Sabres are concerned. The NHL arbitration hearings are coming up, but this year the league hasn’t released its usual schedule for each player’s hearings. So we have no idea when Ukko-Pekka Lukkonen or Beck Malenstyn will be heading to their hearings. Until we know more, all we can wait is to see if the parties can come to an agreement before their hearing.

I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about Kyle Okposo, but his letter to Sabres fans that appeared on the Buffalo News website this week was a good thing. He also had his day with the Cup, but it wasn’t easy: the global computer outage left the Cup stranded in St. Louis. Okposo had to cancel his planned public event, but the Cup finally allowed him to enjoy part of the day.

There’s still time to cast your vote for our annual Top 25 Under 25, so be sure to check it out and vote if you haven’t already.

Oh, and the Cup arrives in Western New York on Tuesday, when Rick Dudley brings it to Lewiston.

Let’s make this a good week, friends.
