Man faces trial for allegedly raping his niece – FBC News

A 56-year-old man will appear in the High Court in Suva today for allegedly raping his niece in Nasinu.

The alleged incident occurred between April and May.

It is alleged that the accused threatened to inform the victim’s aunt about an incident in which she was seen talking to a boy if she did not give him something he wanted.

The defendant then allegedly led the victim into the backyard garden where he committed the crime.

The victim told a friend about the incident, who then informed the teacher.

A report was filed and the incident was investigated by the Nakasi police.

The accused was brought before the Nasinu Magistrate Court for the first time on Friday and remanded in custody.

He will appear before the Suva High Court this morning.
