1 dead after police-involved shooting in Hialeah

HIALEAH, Florida. – One person has died following a police-involved shooting in Hialeah, authorities confirmed Friday morning.

According to Officer Scarlett Hernandez, officers responded to a home in the 500 block of West 53rd Street around 7 a.m. where a “violent argument” occurred.

She said that when officers arrived at the house they encountered an armed man.

According to Hernandez, at least one officer fired his weapon.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly after 9 a.m., Sky 10 was visible above the crime scene as the suspect’s body lay covered with a tarp on the driveway of the house.

“This is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public,” Hernandez said in an email to Local 10 News.

Hernandez said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the police-involved shooting.
