Police officers recently arrested a man and a woman in Aitkin County after seizing about 100 grams of methamphetamine.

Agents of the Aitkin-Itasca-Mille Lacs Violent Crime Enforcement Team (AIM VCET), along with Aitkin County Sheriff’s deputies, executed two search warrants in Rice River and Shamrock townships on July 10.

Brian Smolik, 41, of McGregor, and Mona Weimer, 66, of Palisade, were arrested on suspicion of first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

The AIM VCET asks residents of Aitkin, Itasca or Mille Lacs counties who have concerns or information about drugs or violent crime to call them at 218-927-7449.
