Suspect jumps 100 feet to escape police after 290-mile chase

HOUSTON (KIAH) – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was led on an extended chase around 10:30 a.m. on July 7. The suspect led officers on a chase through Cypress, going from 290 to 99 miles per hour, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour before crashing, jumping an overpass ramp and fleeing on foot.

The suspect reportedly eluded officers long enough to steal an HCSO patrol vehicle, leading to a second chase that ended at the 99 South on-ramp.

The suspect again attempted to elude police by jumping over a barrier. The suspect fell over 100 feet to a field below and was transported to Memorial Hermann with serious injuries.
