Bushkill Township worker dies in riding mower accident

A 74-year-old Bushkill Township employee died Tuesday in an accident involving a ride-on mower on township property.

Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek said Louis Nagy, of Bushkill Center Road in the township, was pronounced dead at Albert Ponds Preserve on Albert Road.

At 10:44 a.m., the coroner was notified that an employee operating a tractor-style riding mower was trapped underneath. Officials believe Nagy had just begun cutting grass along the bank of one of the ponds when the mower tipped over.

The nature reserve is located between Route 33 and Sullivan Trail.

Lysek said the cause and manner of death would not be determined until the investigation was completed. He said no further information would be released.

Bushkill Township officials either declined to comment or did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
