Detectives have arrested an adult and three teenagers in connection with a series of thefts at Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority stores throughout Fairfax County.

Since March, police have been investigating a gang that targeted ABC stores, loaded shopping carts with alcohol and fled in a vehicle before officers could arrive, Fairfax County police said in a news release.

The gang is linked to 15 thefts at ABC stores and stolen goods valued at more than $72,000, police said.

On May 21, Jomarice Evans, 27, of Washington, DC, was arrested in a neighboring judicial district on unrelated charges, the press release said.

“After an extensive investigation, investigators were able to link Evans to several ABC thefts in Fairfax County,” police said.

Evans was charged with robbery, five counts of grand larceny, five counts of theft with intent to sell, five counts of transportation of alcohol, five counts of inducing a minor to commit a crime, criminal damage and organized shoplifting, the press release said.

He is currently in prison in another judicial district.

Detectives also identified and charged three juveniles in connection with the thefts.

On June 27, detectives from the police Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit, with assistance from the United States Marshals Service, arrested three juveniles in Washington, D.C. All three were charged with three counts of grand larceny and theft with intent to sell.
