Three men in their 30s shot near Freeway 105

Downey police are investigating the triple murder of three apparently homeless men who were shot near the riverbed of the Rio San Gabriel.

On Saturday at 8:50 p.m., Downey Police responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired on the west side of the San Gabriel Riverbed near Freeway 105.

When officers arrived, they found three men with gunshot wounds, a press release said.

All three men were pronounced dead by the Downey Fire Department.

The men were between 34 and 37 years old.

Officials said the victims “were believed to be homeless and in the area at the time of the murder.”

The identities of the victims will not be released until the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has notified their next of kin.

An initial press release stated that the shooting was apparently an isolated incident.

In a follow-up statement, officials said the incident “appears not to have been a random shooting and that there is no danger to surrounding neighborhoods.”

Detectives are currently conducting intensive investigations, but no further details were available as of Monday afternoon.
