The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ION. Fans who want to watch this WNBA game can do so for free using FuboTV and DirecTV Stream, both of which offer a free trial, or with SlingTV, which does not offer a free trial but does offer promotional offers.

The Dream enter this game with a 7-11 record and a two-game losing streak after an impressive win over the Sun. Alongside Howard on the injury report is Jordin Canada, who missed the first 14 games of the season and injured his finger in the Dream’s loss to the Chicago Sky in their last appearance.

At 4-16, the Wings have the worst record in the league, behind only the Los Angeles Sparks and Washington Mystics. Dallas has lost 14 of its last 15 games, with the lone win coming against the Commissioner’s Cup winners, the Minnesota Lynx, snapping an 11-game losing streak. Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese Headline WNBA All-Star Team to Face U.S. Olympic Team

By DOUG FEINBERG AP Basketball Writer

NEW YORK (AP) — Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will team up on the WNBA All-Star team to play against the U.S. Olympic team led by A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart.

The two standout rookies were selected Tuesday by a combination of media, player and fan votes as well as the league’s 12 coaches to play in the game in Phoenix on July 20, the 20th All-Star Game in league history.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been a teammate of hers before, even at USA Basketball. I know people are going to be really excited about this, but I hope it doesn’t ruin everybody’s life,” Clark said. “It’s a huge accomplishment for everybody on Team USA and everybody on Team WNBA. They all deserve equal praise. I don’t want it to ruin anything and have it be the focal point of All-Star weekend because that wouldn’t be fair to them.”

Clark was the top vote-getter, with 700,735 votes, with her Indiana teammate Aliyah Boston finishing second with 72,000 votes behind. Reese was fifth with 381,518 votes. Wilson and Stewart were third and fourth. Wilson garnered 607,300 votes and Stewart 424,135.

Clark and Reese have been a boon to the WNBA in terms of viewership, merchandise sales and attendance. They also play well on the court, with Clark third in assists with 6.9 and Reese leading the WNBA in rebounds with 11.4.

“They just told me I’m an All-Star. I’m so happy,” an emotional Reese said after her team’s win over the Atlanta Dream. “I know how much work I’ve put in. Coming into this league, a lot of people doubted me and didn’t think my game would be up to par and that I wouldn’t be the player I was in college, or better, or worse, or where I am today. But I trust the process and I’m grateful that I went down to No. 7 (draft pick) and got to come to Chicago.”

This is the eighth time two rookies have made the team. The last time was Shoni Schimmel and Chiney Ogwumike in 2014.

Joining the WNBA rookies are Connecticut’s DeWanna Bonner and Brionna Jones, Atlanta’s Allisha Gray, Los Angeles’ Dearica Hamby, New York’s Jonquel Jones, Minnesota’s Kayla McBride, Indiana’s Kelsey Mitchell, Seattle’s Nneka Ogwumike and Dallas’ Arike Ogunbowale.

Ogunbowale was voted MVP of the 2021 All-Star Game, which was played in the same format as Team USA playing against a league All-Star team. The WNBA team won that game.

“She’s had an incredible season so far,” Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve said of McBride. “She does everything for us, so she deserves this All-Star nomination.”

The U.S. team, which will be seeking an eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal in Paris later this month, also includes Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi. Both Phoenix players will get a chance to play in front of their home crowd in the exhibition match. Taurasi will be competing for a record sixth Olympic gold medal.

Three of Wilson’s teammates in Las Vegas — Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young — are on Team USA. Gray was on the Tokyo Olympic team while Plum and Young both helped the Americans win the first gold medal in 3-on-3.

Other players returning from the Tokyo Games include Napheesa Collier and Jewell Loyd. Several new Olympians will join the team, including Alyssa Thomas, Sabrina Ionescu and Kahleah Copper. All three played on the U.S. team that won the World Cup in Australia in 2022.

Every player selected to Team USA or Team WNBA is considered an All-Star, making Taurasi’s 11th appearance in the game. She now sits alone in second place behind Sue Bird for the most All-Star appearances of all time. Bird is a 13-time All-Star.

The league will hold a 3-point challenge and skills competition the day before the All-Star Game.
