Woman killed, another person injured in shooting in Austin

One woman was killed and another injured in a shooting on Austin’s West Side late Thursday night.

At around 11:50 p.m., two women, ages 59 and 29, were shot in the 900 block of North Leclaire Avenue, Chicago police said.

The elderly woman was shot in the hip and head and taken to Stroger Hospital, where she later died, police said.

The younger woman was shot in the upper body and also taken to Storger, where her condition was listed as stable, officials said.

According to initial findings, the suspect fled in a dark car.

No one was taken into custody.
